DIVO’s Story
1936
The first issue of the D.I.V.O. newsletter—short for Défense et Illustration des Vins d’Origine—is created by Constant Bourquin, a Geneva-based journalist, wine enthusiast, philosopher and passionate man of letters. It is a heartfelt rallying cry in support of honest winemakers and a denunciation of the standardisation of taste.
1991
Christophe von Ritter takes over as head of DIVO, succeeding Andreas Keller, who had himself succeeded Pierre Balthasar de Muralt in 1989. On taking up the role, the new director decides to restart the numbering of the publications, with the new issue number 1 published in January 1992.
2001
From Lausanne, the offices and wine cellar move to the outskirts, to Penthalaz.
2006
DIVO’s various publications are given a graphic refresh, moving away from the newsletter-style look they had previously.
2012
The DIVO gustissimo event is launched, giving members the opportunity to meet dozens of passionate producers during several days of tastings across Switzerland.
2016
To mark its 80th anniversary, DIVO goes all out under the direction of Barbara Pokorny. Exceptional offers for members and memorable events are offered throughout the year.
2017
The Quartenoud family acquires DIVO from the Fenaco group. Through its subsidiary Les Vins Jules Gex, the family-owned Alloboissons Group has been active in the wine business since 1900. The acquisition brings changes to DIVO, both in appearance and in structure. The administration moves to the Group’s premises in Givisiez, while dispatch moves into the former Alloboissons wine cellar in Granges-Paccot. DIVO’s longstanding spirit and values remain intact, though its communications receive a refresh for long-standing and prospective members alike.
2023
The all-new DIVO.ch website launches!
